Trials Wrap Up
After a week of highly competitive swimming at the 2023 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials, two NB swimmers have been selected to represent Canada at the national level.
Brooklyn Douthwright was selected to represent Canada along with 36 other swimmers at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, the first Canadian team to be announced for the upcoming games in Chili. Brooklyn was also selected to represent the country at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. Where she will compete with some of the best in the world.
Danielle Dorris from CNBO was selected to represent the country at the 2023 World Para Swimming Championships in Manchester, England. She will be fighting to defend her world record title along with 12 other Canadian swimmers.
New Brunswick had a total of six swimmers at the trials, three of whom had top-ten finishes in the majority of their races. Jacob Gallant from FAST and Brooklyn Douthwright from CNBO both broke NB records. Jacob in the 200 IM touching the wall with a time of 2:04.92 and Brooklyn in the 100 Free finishing with a time of 55.15. From CNBO Noah Beausoleil competed in the 50 Fly, and Summer Esson competed in the 50 breast and 50 fly. Brynne LeRoy from TIDE competed in the 400 free, 800 free, and 1500 Free.
It was great to see six NB swimmers at trials and to have two of them selected for National teams is very exciting. Along with the two NB records broken it was a very successful week for the NB swimmers.
